The first big choice everyone has to make is what authority Jesus has over their life. If one chooses to give Jesus authority, then the next important choice is what authority the Holy Scriptures has over their life. Many, many people who claim Christ, don’t yield to the authority of scripture, whether Old Testament (The Hebrew Tanakh) or New Testament, over their lives. They find plenty of reasons to explain away the clear commands, teachings and words of God.

If someone doesn’t yield to the authority of the Holy Scriptures, then by what standard does one know the will of God? Does God and His will become only what the culture of the day is willing to tolerate or is God’s will eternal, outside the judgement of men?

One finds the shalom of God only when we yield to His authority and His will. At Just Disciples, we believe that is found in the canon of Holy Scripture.
